Create San Antonio neighborhoods that are inclusive to all!
This petition had 29 supporters
There has been a recent request by District 1 Councilman Roberto Trevino of the City of San Antonio to change the zoning on many lots in District 1 from multi-family (apartment) zoned properties to single family zoning (single homes). This would reduce the ability to have duplexes, triplexes, four plexes, and six plexes in higher opportunity neighborhoods that are already segregated by race and class.
It is widely known that San Antonio is one of the most economically segregated cities. Zoning laws are another way to segregate. With this petition we request that the City Council does not vote to downzone these multi-family lots to single family to prevent further segregation of the City of San Antonio by race and class. We request that all neighborhoods have zoning laws that are inclusive to everyone. Everyone of all incomes and races should have access to the neighborhoods targeted by this District 1 request. To be inclusive, this means the ability to have multi-family housing options within all neighborhoods.
