Katherine Garcia started this petition to San Antonio City Council

I have lived in the Woodstone area for approximately 4 1/2 years now. I have seen multiple accidents at the intersection of O’Connor Road & Larkdale. Larkdale has a stop sign while O’connor only has flashing yellow lights, to which most drivers ignore. The posted speed limit being 40 mph on that stretch of O’Connor, yet the speed isn’t controlled or monitored enough to keep drivers accountable.

In October of 2018, I was involved in a very unfortunate accident at the intersection that tragically resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. I reached out to the city of San Antonio to inquire about having a light installed. The email reply informed me that the investigation could take up to 60 days. It was closed within the next 2 days with no information regarding my request/inquiry. To this day, a traffic light still hasn’t been installed.

More recently, I was involved in another accident (very minor considering the last accident). The gentleman admitted to me that he was “hauling ass.” He was traveling down O’connor as I was turning off of Larkdale.

In addition to the 2 instances above, there have been numerous occasions that I have been unable to leave the neighborhood for a considerable amount of time due to vehicles speeds from one side or the other. I’ve feared for my family’s safety, as well as my own, many times while exiting my neighborhood because of that intersection.

I would like to see a traffic light installed, a three way stop or even speed bumps installed to help better control the speed of traffic between O’connor/Wurzbach Parkway & Fountainwood. The quality of safety for all drivers needs to improve in that area.
