Hunter Warren started this petition to San Antonio City Council

The Riverwalk north of downtown is beautiful but there's no place to just relax and enjoy the River. Every space along the San Antonio River downtown is taken up by condos, office buildings or parking lots. We need a natural green space with lots of shade, next to the Riverwalk downtown. Let's claim one of the last remaining spots on the river as a park for all of San Antonio (and it's visitors!) The ideal location: this piece of land is currently for sale by CPS and could be acquired for a park.

This will be a highly-visible park with a cultured aspect thanks to its proximity to the San Antonio Museum of Art.

We need a place to gather and be close to the river, instead of just passing through. This can be a a place to: read / study, have a picnic, relax with a coffee or snack, or just sit and admire the scene, and the river.

The South SA River has many parks; Roosevelt, Confluence, Concepcion, Mission County, Padre Park, and Espada. But north of downtown, only Brackenridge Park exists. A San Antonio River park downtown will amplify the Riverwalk experience by providing a place to stand back and take it all in. It will offer summer shade and rest for tourists and residents alike, a lively place to meet with friends, or a place to just sit and be inspired by the energy of San Antonio, and the millions who visit the Riverwalk each year.

There are many places to meet along the Riverwalk, but none of them downtown are natural, and most involve spending money. Most don't offer a sweeping view of the river. This is a public space, for everyone in San Antonio to enjoy the Riverwalk, while they picnic, converse, etc., free of charge.

Thank you, and please NO DONATIONS at this time...Change.org may ask you to donate but I am not asking for donations right now.
