This petition is being created to help & hopefully keep our salvation army open!
Unfortunately the divisional commander has made a decision to close easington salvation army. His decision was based on the fact that not many attend the Sunday service!
This is an unfair decision!
The salvation army is not about Sunday service, it's a charity as well as a church. This salvation army however offers a toddler group on a Tuesday morning, a kids club on a Thursday night & dinner on a Friday afternoon.
There are people who have dedicated their lives to this place, who have worked here for 60+ years. This is their lives & also their families. A second family. Why take this away from those who have done nothing but help, helped the community!? Not just people from easington are a part of this service.
What will happen if this closes??
My guess is that at first it will get vandalised & trashed. Then it will get demolished, then what yet more new house built. Yet more houses! Easington have enough empty houses as it is, we do not need anymore. What we do need is a place for people to go, for people to seek help. In Easington we do not have a community centre for children but the salvation army do offer a toddler group on a Tuesday morning & a children's club on a Thursday night. Not many people know of this. People attend the army on a Friday for dinner, as well on a Sunday for service.
Please could everyone please sign this & give it a chance. Even if your not in anyway a part of the salvation army please give them the support anyways.
