as of Monday 10th of February I am being placed at Salvation Army shop in Ormskirk, so they are still taking placements regardless of what they say

The Salvation Army is damaging its reputation by taking part in the workfare scheme. I see no reason why people should not give up their time to work with a wel-known charitable institution, but people who are compelled to work them under threat of loss of benefits are being exploited by the Salvation Army

because the SA are supposed to be a Christian charity, and that precludes a belief in slavery for practically zero wages. Where's the charity in thata? How can people gain pride in their work if they are forced into it?
