Extend Dog Walking on Tywyn Beach

Up until a couple of years ago the main promenade area in Tywyn was dog free during the summer months. Then for no apparent reason the Council took it upon themselves to extend the dog free area to include the area to the north end of the promenade from close to Glan y Mor.
The main industry in Tywyn is tourism and this increased restriction is not customer friendly. A very large percentage of the visitors to Tywyn have a dog and they come here in order to enjoy the great beach with their family which includes their dog. We need to encourage tourism not discourage it. Tourism brings jobs and a healthy commercial environment. Which in turn helps to keep the young people of Tywyn here instead of having to move away in order to obtain work.
It is a small thing that we ask, put the dog friendly area back to how it used to be. This still leaves a large area of beach that is dog free. Of course, not everybody is comfortable around dogs and it is important that this area remains dog free during the summer.
Let’s also continue the great work of educating the minority of dog owners on the importance of picking up their dog litter and disposing of it appropriately.
Educate don’t Exclude
