Remove Anti-Panhandling Billboards in Salt Lake City

This petition had 268 supporters

"Support Panhandlers, You Support Alcoholism." This is anti-homelessness propaganda supported by business entities, law enforcement and city officials. New laws have been enacted to fine panhandlers up to $100 dollars claiming that its business not charity

Ads like this are misleading, as well as continuing to recklessly feeding into the rhetoric against a marginalized population. These ads are placed all over the city alongside Televsion airings.

To argue absolute that every dollar given to someone experiencing homelessness will go to liquor sales, states that all are alcoholics and drug addicts.

Even if you are personally against panhandling this sign is blatantly prejudiced, and is character assassinates all experiencing homelessness. These signs are an attack on our city's most vulnerable, and must be removed. We demand Salt Lake City Council and the Mayor's office to take down these signs as they are an attack on human rights for those experincing homelessness.
