STOP CLOSING SALONS AND SPAS!

As an owner of a new salon and spa in a small town, I am standing up for not only all of the salon and spas in Canada but for small business everywhere who have absolutely no other means to survive with their business. Curb-side pickup is only an option for so long, to sell what a bottle of hairspray a month? There has been no proof that people are getting contact with covid through these places. Our salons are sanitized head to toe regardless of Covid-19. We are one of the cleanest facilities when it comes to sanitation and taking caution since we are face to face with our clients. It was reported in the states after the last lockdown this summer that a salon of two stylists who tested positive for Covid-19 served 148 clients without ANY not even 1 client testing positive. By wearing the proper PPE and enforcing our clientele to as well, locking our doors to only allow our clientele in 1 at a time, making them fill out a form with their personal information guaranteeing us they have not been in contact (Walmart can’t do this) we are controlling the spread. And not once have I heard of any salon not doing what they were supposed to be doing and not once have I heard “a client has been tested positive for COVID-19 and got the virus at the salon. 

What makes this whole thing even worse is that the government feels that massage therapists and Botox clinics are considered essential, they have not been shut down as of December 26th and we’re able to go back to work a whole MONTH before we were the last lockdown. I would really like to know why you can go and get Botox fillers and a massage but we cannot serve our clientele in the same form of service? This whole thing has stopped making sense all together and it’s time to start shutting down the big corporations and unnecessary public gatherings  because they are the ONLY places COVID-19 is spreading. Not in our well organized, controlled, and sanitized salons and spas and small shops.
