Install street lighting along the access road at the top of Gillers Green near Holly House Day Nursery coming from the High Street, Walkden
This petition had 29 supporters
During the early mornings and evenings of the late autumn and the winter months visability along this access road is virtually nil, it is extremely dark for pedestrians walking this way and the road is in a very bad state of repair with many pot holes. there is no street lighting along this walkway at all and there are many people who use this road to access both the estate including Gillers Green, Bickershaw Drive etc. and Holly House Day Nursery which is at the very end of this road. The parents at Holly House are becoming increasingly concerned as are the staff and Managers of Holly House regarding the health and safety risks to all who use the road. A petition was previously sent in to Ms Barbera Keeley (The Labour member of parliment for Worsley and Eccles South) in December 2010 the result of which was that street lighting was to be installed and improvements to the surface of the road made due to the majority of this road serving as emergency access into the nearby housing development and the road was to be made up to 'adoptable standards'. The letter informing us of this was sent in March 2011 but the work has still not been carried out so therefore we are re-petitioning the Local Authority with regards to this.
