As of the end of this academic year, Eccles Sixth Form College will be terminating it's pastoral staff from each campus, these pastoral staff carry out weekly tutorials which cover sensitive topics that may be affecting some students, as well as guiding students through their university applications step-by-step. If the planned termination takes place, students will be guided through this process by their subject teachers, teachers who have an already huge workload and likely have no time or experience in the complicated procedure of UCAS. Pastoral staff also help students a great deal with issues they may not be comfortable speaking about with someone they see on a daily basis, sensitive subjects that pastoral staff excel in dealing with. All students have a close relationship with their personal tutor and many of us would struggle without them, therefor, it is vital that these four members of staff continue to be employed at Salford City College so that students for years to come have the same help and support that has proven so vital for current and past students.
