On 09/30/2021 Ms. Hire the art teacher from Parrish Middle School assaulted a student. The student was in class mourning the death of loved one who had just passed from COVID. While the student was in class crying, instead of being met empathy they were met with hostility. The teacher tell's the student, "stop crying about your grandpa [students name], do your work." Shortly after, the teacher grabs them by the arm and aggressively drags them out of the seat they were in, to a different seat and tell's them "do your work." When the student told this teacher they would tell their parents what they did, the teacher responds, "I can handle it, your parents don't scare me." This teacher expects to get away with this behavior and not be held accountable. This teacher has a record of bullying and harassing not only this student but others as well which has forced students to switch out of the class. All youth deserve a safe and comfortable learning environment. This teacher must be removed from the schools. Any teacher who creates hostile environments for youth has no right to be a teacher. The school district must prioritize the safety and well-being of their students. They must hold this teacher accountable to not only show this behavior is not okay but to also reassure the youth they are heard and listened to.
