I am a salaried professional in Gurugram, paying a high house rent. Cities like Gurugram, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune are IT hubs and the cost of living in them tends to be very high.
Being considered non-metro cities, private company employees like me currently get only 40% House Rent Allowance (HRA) exemption. Employees staying in metro cities get a 50% exemption on their basic salary.
Therefore I request the government to consider Gurugram, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune as metro cities so that people like me can also benefit from higher exemption.
