Save Monroe Elementary School

Save Monroe Elementary School
Why this petition matters

On Monday, December 1st, our teachers and staff were blind-sighted by the news that our beloved school, Monroe Elementary School, was slated for closure in the coming school year. This has been a very difficult year for us all, and our school family has rallied around our students and families to ensure we are best able to serve them and meet their needs.
We are a dedicated staff who loves our students. We work hard every single day through the last few years of SIG, Pilot programs, and other difficult tasks. Monroe never shies away from a challenge. We instill in our students a clear message every single morning: I can do my very best today, because I AM a Monroe Dragon, and I can be who I want to be.
We are humbly requesting that you do not close our school next year. We are a pillar for our community. We have a dedicated support staff that goes far out of their way to meet the needs of our 230+ students. We provide clothes, shoes, food, books, and any other need they may have.
We have a strong community here, we partner with the Temple Israel which did a Santa Shop for our students last year, and provided our brand new basketball team with jerseys, free of charge! We also have partnerships with ABC Today and Operation School Bell/Assistance League which provides many resources for our students and families.
As a teacher, building steward, and basketball coach, I am asking that you please rethink your decision to close Monroe Elementary School. We are a family here. We have had success here, and retained teachers for many years for a reason. We send our students off successful in middle school, and prepare lifelong learners who stand up for what is right.
I am writing on behalf of our students, families, teachers, staff, and community... Please save Monroe Elementary School.
