Bringing back asynchronous Wednesdays at the Saint Louis Park High School would not only boost productivity, it would have a positive effect on students overall mental health. Some of the biggest reasons for stress in student's lives are: lack of sleep, excessive homework, and little to no free time for self care. Wednesdays would be an opportunity to complete homework which would in return grant students more time to sleep, socialize, and practice self care. The addition of Asynchronous Wednesdays would also boost productivity in normal school days because students would always have a rest day to look forward to just 1-2 days away. This along with more sleep would lead to less burnout and more overall productivity. Another huge benefit of bringing back Asynchronous wednesdays would be the additional time for teachers to grade, and create class lessons. All of the benefits that students would experience would be experienced by teachers as well. Evidence of these positive impacts on mental health can be seen throughout all of the 2020-2021 school year. The negative impacts of the lockdown and distance learning were felt by almost everyone but we might as well take the positives of that year and use them to learn and improve our schools. That way the negatives from last year wouldn't be completely in vain.
