Recognize the Faculty Union at Saint Leo University NOW!

Full-time faculty at Saint Leo University have been unionized for over forty years and, with a single vote and without any notice, the Board of Trustees unilaterally erased their contractual guarantees on Friday, October 23rd. To have made this momentous decision with no faculty consultation in the middle of a pandemic makes it clear the administration has failed to meet their own call to “cultivate servant leadership that respects and upholds the dignity of faculty, staff and all members of the university,” or to “advocate for social justice, guided by Catholic social teaching.”
In the words of Pope Francis, "There is no good society without a good union, and there is no good union that isn't reborn every day in the peripheries, that doesn't transform the rejected stones of the economy into corner stones."
We, the undersigned, demand that Jeffrey D. Senese, President of Saint Leo University, recognize the United Faculty at SLU as the collective bargaining agent for full-time faculty and restore all rights granted to them as outlined in the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
