My professors have done so much for me & I wish to support them in their time of need too. They make Leo home! Through the scope of a Catholic Identity, all people deserve full dignity and respect which is inherit to the human person, therefore these professor and all staff at Saint Leo deserve not to be belittled and mistreated by those in authority.

This action by the board violates both Catholic social teaching on the right to belong to a union and the shared governance principles articulated by the American Association of University Professors.

How can a Catholic University do this to their faculty? How does this match their core values, or even their Benedictine values? The board of trustees don't seem to care about the faculty they are there to oversee. This is a very disappointing surprise from a university I used to respect.

Across Florida, (many -- not all) university administrations are taking this terrible pandemic as an opportunity to disenfranchise their most valuable asset -- the faculty -- who are the core of a "university". Please! Stop this!

Catholic social teaching unequivocally supports the right of all workers to form a union.

Work without collective bargaining is, at best, coercion. That's bad enough. At worst, it's slavery. And there is nothing to stop it from going bad to worse.

Faculty deserve the right to continue to collectively bargain—this is disgraceful and shameful action on the part of the board. Without faculty you wouldn’t even have a university!!

It was the faculty that helped me, an older student veteran, achieve a goal I thought unattainable. My college success is a direct result of their dedication to students.

It is shocking that an institution of higher learning that ostensibly follows Benedictine principles would abruptly abandon any good faith negotiation with the people who perform the essential work--the faculty.
