A percentage of SKC Students and their parents would like to call on SKC to create a remote option that will allow students to study from home until case numbers stabilize and it is safe to return to campus, or at least till the end of this term. Our intention is not to create more workload for teachers. Hopefully, streaming or zoom with in-person students will not put pressure on the teachers.

Now the community is increasing approximately 20,000 cases every day. Omicron is a highly contagious virus. Although SKC encourages all students and teachers to obtain the vaccines, that does not prevent the spread of COVID-19 to students, teachers, and their families and friends. It is important to remember that vulnerable students among the population could still get seriously ill. Not to mention those younger siblings and/or elders could be living in the same household.

We think the risk is not worth it. We have seen what happens when a group of people get together during a pandemic. Australian schools put in place a system requiring students' negative results by having RAT test twice a week before attending school. We are putting our loved ones at risk and everyone around us. The classrooms are not sanitized after every lesson, and there is not enough space in the classrooms to keep social distance. We must know that there will be a great risk of infection in a confined space while the ventilation is insufficient under the circumstances.

Some private schools in Auckland have announced having remote study starting next week. We believe SKC treasure their student, our kids' health and education very much. Therefore, to provide a safer and better environment for students and teachers, we would like to ask SKC to consider creating online classes as an option. Thank you for your consideration!
