SafeBeat is a National Initiative that establishes local heart screenings and Emergency Action Planning programs in an effort to prevent sudden death in our youth throughout America's public school systems.
They offer FREE preventative heart screenings for students at public middle/high schools (in collaboration with Wolfson's Children's Hospital). It is a safe, non-evasive, and painless electrocardiogram (ECG) screening program that includes 4 main components: personal & family heart history, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) & the electrocardiogram. They also offer expedited appointments for any student requiring follow-up testing and care/assistance for the uninsured!
This heart screening program is a fast and effective way to know that your loved one is at minimal risk. Each parent will be provided the screening results within about 1 week.
As some of you may know, a heart screening saved my son P.J.'s life. He was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. He was risk for sudden cardiac arrest. I can not imagine what could have happened if he had not gotten a heart screening. The doctor told us that his first symptom would have been his last symptom. All to often we hear on our local news how a child has collapsed on the field or even at school of cardiac arrest and passed away. WE, YOU, OUR community has the ability to make a difference and change this! As a mother and a parent and a member of Saint Johns county I encourage you to please sign this petition and SHARE it!
