Participation in senior days and activities

Saint Anselm College prides itself in community. As students near the end of a four year educational journey the college hosts a series of events; a tradition of allowing its graduating seniors to participate in four days of activities leading up to commencement. Each student signs a contract, which explains the rules of senior week. However, the contract fails to inform students of returning to campus the night prior to the activities and the punishments inflicted. Several students have recently been banned from campus and the participation of senior events due to our arrival the night prior to check-in. All students were in their assigned appartments, being respectful of noise and trying to catch up on sleep rather than driving home tired. Several students were confronted by the Residential Director who proceeded to tell moving students they would not receive a punishment but there was a risk in leaving their belongings unattended. The punishment of missing the senior events is unfair for the “crime” that was committed. This petition is to allow us seniors to stay on campus Friday and Saturday night, which would eliminate half of the senior days as a punishment. The past four years with our classmates has been so incredibly important and we do not want to limit our senior days to only one night.

All the best,

Saint Anselm Seniors
