Cover my Aunt Penny's chemotherapy before breast cancer takes her life.
My Aunt Penny has devoted her life to helping Alzheimer's patients. Now she is the one who needs medical help. She was recently diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The tumor is very aggressive and her doctors said she needs to begin chemotherapy right away to prevent the spread of the cancer and hopefully to shrink the tumor that is pressing against her chest cavity and save the use of her right arm. She is insured through her employer and is pursuing a regular course of treatment. Yesterday Sagamore Health threw her yet another emotional curveball by denying chemotherapy coverage mere hours before the start of her first treatment thereby postponing treatment for at least one week. They claim they need to consult with her doctors directly to confirm that chemotherapy is medically necessary for STAGE THREE BREAST CANCER! Sagamore Health has greatly contributed to the suffering and anxiety associated with this diagnosis and caused a potentially deadly delay in her treatment. This is an egregious act on the part of this insurance company, as this is clearly just a ploy to deny care to those in need and save a buck.
