Why this petition matters

Hi Friends, Residents and Locals of Rhodes,

As you may have seen on our community posts that there are increasing accidents and growing problems and frustration of over population and traffic in the area. With our past request and more accidents happening in our Community this may become a liability issue if there is a death that is due to non action.

We are requesting for some raised safety pedestrian crossings in these areas:

1. Marquet St - Access to Rhodes Central
2. Shoreline Drive (Mary St - cross street). Foreshore Park.
3. Guathorpe and Walker St

These are high traffic areas and also connected to parks and shopping centres.  We are asking Council to provide us a safe passage to high traffic areas, as this can lead to death of a resident which could be a child or an elderly person.

This is just a request for Council to provide a solution and not the final solution. It is up to council to manage traffic effectively and it’s their duty to provide the community with basic safety traffic management.

We need help from residents of Rhodes to sign a petition that will be sent to Council asking them to please take some action, find a solution and complete work in this matter. We believe that this will provide so much for the residents here. It has been too long and is overdue for this basic request and we would like a response and some action before a death happens.

“Only through action we can make a change.”
