Installation of lights and the possiblity of security cameras along cycle paths in Swansea

Recently I was a victim of assault/attempted rape along a cycle path, popular with many citizens of Swansea. Although it was a rare and isolated case, I am aware that it has created a sense of fear, and many are understandably more cautious along the cycle paths. I believe that people should be free to enjoy these paths without feeling that their safety is compromised. Many of the paths become extremely dark at night and even during specific periouds of time in the day/year are very dimly lit. Installing lights along these paths will ultimately make the paths a lot more safer during times of darkness and the public can still enjoy them all year round; as the nights will gradually begin to get longer. I also believe that the installation of security cameras at each access point to certain cycle paths, will also help to put the public at ease. It will also deter any possibility of future incidences like mine, as well as theft etc. Ultimately, I believe that these changes will help to make Swansea a safer and better place to be.
