Safer schools for our children.

On Wednesday February 14, 2018 17 lives came to a tragic end, 17 families have to now bury their loved one. These parents will be visiting their children’s graves instead of attending their graduation. We are 46 days into 2018, 46 days. In those 46 days 18 cases of gunfire have been documented in US schools. Enough is enough. Our children’s schools have become a playground for these individuals who’s sole purpose is to destroy the lives of our children. How are these individuals getting into our children’s schools? Why are our children being left unprotected in a place where they should feel safe? Our children’s schools should be equipped with metal detectors, properly trained armed security. No one that doesn’t belong on campus should be able to reach our children as easily as the students who were murdered in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. As a parent we are our children’s voice if we don’t stand up for them, who will?
Florida lawmakers have repeatedly denied pleas for school safety money, the department of education has been begging for money for school safety yet each attempt has been in vain. Please don’t ignore this, not any more. Please put yourself in the shoes of these parents who’ve had to bury their children. Today it was their child tomorrow, it could be yours.
