Why this petition matters

Started by Gemma Alexander

There's a clear need for a safe pedestrian crossing on the corner of New Cross Road (A2) and Pomeroy Street, SE14.

Currently, there is no safe way to cross the above junction and we urgently need an installation of a new pedestrian crossing at the end of Pomeroy Street / New Cross Road (as pictured) to allow safe passage for all local residents and commuters.

The A2 has multiple types of traffic, including heavy traffic in terms of buses, lorries, cars, motorbikes, scooters and cyclists making it extremely challenging to judge when to cross safely. This is often difficult when vehicles turn rapidly, sometimes without warning into Pomeroy Street which is beyond hazardous to cross.

The crossing is also used by school children who commute to/from school, many of which travel without an appropriate adult.

The aim of this petition is to show support for a pedestrian crossing to be installed on Pomeroy Street / New Cross Road.

With the council and national government encouraging more people to 'Go Green' and use their cars less, it seems logical to provide safe crossing points to ensure public safety is upheld.

Please sign this petition to make Lewisham Council aware of the issues raised and allow them to act accordingly for the local community.
