Our country is struggling drastically with two things:

1) We are struggling with the amount of air pollution we are creating. Fireworks cause extensive air pollution in a short amount of time, leaving metal particles, dangerous toxins, harmful chemicals and smoke in the air for hours and days. Some of the toxins never fully decompose or disintegrate, but rather hang around in the environment, poisoning all they come into contact with.

2) We are struggling to help the amount of people / groups / that are in desperate need for money. ie. Homeless shelters, food banks, animal charity's, war heroes, the list is endless. Front line staff are paid a pittance, nurses, firefighters, first-responders, carers.  Child poverty is rising and austerity has crippled normal every day families. Smaller charities (that help locally with Mental Health Issues, Cancer, Dementia, Special Needs, daycare, day centres*) are closing their doors because they can not afford to continue.

WE SHOULD CANCEL THE LONDON NEW YEARS EVE FIREWORKS DISPLAY IN 2020.

1) HELPING TOWARDS KEEPING OUR AIR AND POPULATION HEALTHY.

2) HELPING TOWARDS THOSE IN NEED. WE SHOULD SET UP A FUND/CHARITY CALLED "FUNDS FROM FIREWORKS" AND PUT THE £2.3 MILLION NOT SPENT ON THE NEW YEARS EVE FIREWORK DISPLAY INTO THE FUND AND SPLIT IT INTO 52 AND GIVE IT TO A CHOSEN AREA OF NEED EVERY WEEK THE FOLLOWING YEAR.

THE SHOW IN LONDON ON NEW YEARS EVE COULD BE A LIGHT SHOW / PROJECTOR SHOW WITH MUSIC, SHOWING US A BRIEF GLIMPSE OF EVERY GROUP, CHARITY, PERSON THAT HAS BEEN HELPED WITH THE MONEY.

IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE!

* Just a tiny example of areas of need.  There are thousands more!
