I would like to see cyclists being required to have a number plate on their bike, pay a road tax, and have insurance.

Cyclists want the same rights as motorists, so they should pay like motorists have to. If their bike had number plates maybe they would think twice about cycling through red lights. If they were involved in an incident it would be easier to trace them. They have their own cycle lanes, so why not pay towards upkeep through a road tax system and Insurance for their bike just as motorists need.
