London Mayor Must Get Tough on Petty Crime
This petition had 264 supporters
Petty crime in London has increased by almost 10% in 2017, while arrests are down 12%.
The reduction of the police budget by the Tories over the past 5 years is promoting a sense of lawlessness across the city.
Community officers and beat cops are not on the streets where they are needed most.
The police are powerless or unwilling to address the scourge of crime and anti-social behaviour coming out of council estates.
Shops, cars, and homes are broken into and robbed, people are mugged, acid attacks are on the rise, and violent motorcycle gangs repeatedly escape without consequence.
Law-abiding citizens are less protected than the criminals who assault them.
The people of greater London formally request that Mayor Sadiq Khan and Police Commissioner Cressida Dick address this issue with urgency by getting tough on crime and finding the resources to do this effectively.
