Do Not renew Uber's License in London

This petition had 75 supporters

Yesterday, TFL and the office of the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, decided to not renew the Private Hire License for Uber in the City of London.

Among the reasons were Uber's "lack of corporate responsibility" in issues of public safety. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of the Greyball program & blocking police investigations into reported sexual assaults by Uber drivers - Metropolitan Police Inspector Neil Bellamy said of them that "Uber are allowing situations to develop that clearly affect the safety and security of the public."

It also includes Uber's revelations that background checks on thousands of its drivers are actually invalid. They have shown wilful irresponsibility for the safety of London as a city and for it's customers. A decision was therefore taken by the Mayor.

I made this petition as I feel, unless Uber drastically and quickly change their practices, that this 'ban' should be upheld. A petition surfaced in response to the ban to "Save Uber" which I found really distressing. Personal convenience is, in my view, not a valid reason to ignore repeated wilful ignorance of the laws and values we wish to uphold in the City of London and I feel one of those central values should be everyone's right to travel around the city without fear or attack.
