Support the addition of life skill classes to help students
As we, and previous graduating classes, near the end of our senior year, the stress of life after high school becomes more present. Many students aren't prepared for the "real-world" due to the lack of life skills classes taught in school. Due to this lack of information, uncertainty and poor decision making are created in young adults when they begin their less-structured life.
If schools started providing more life skill classes, this would help to prepare future generations in their decision making during their transition to adulthood.
For graduates, one of the first things that comes to light in their life is a new living situation. If the student has no previous knowledge on how to begin renting or buying a living space, then they can easily become overwhelmed. However, having the school provide classes that gives students the skills they need for this situation can dramatically change the way they go about it.
There are many other factors that contribute to a graduates new life, some of these being money management, paying taxes, getting a job, and managing new stress.
With this petition, new classes will be offered at high schools in our district, to hopefully eliminate those feelings of uncertainty. By signing this petition, you are giving thousands of students the opportunity to use life skills classes to benefit their future and aid their success.
