End Section 8 Discrimination

The Fair Housing Act has stated that discriminating against an applicant based off their "source of income" including government assistance is unlawful under the Gov. section code 12955- 12957. It also states that when using the 2-3x rent amount to figure the monthly income of a tenant they must use the amount of rent portion paid by the tenant not the full rent amount i.e if the rent is $1500 per month and the tenant pays only $500 then the monthly income of the tenant should be $1500 not $1500x3= $4500. Other major cities including Chicago and Santa Clara have made it clear that advertising a home for rent and using the term " NO Section 8" is considered discrimination and that all property managers have to allow tenants that receive Section 8 to apply for any homes available as long as they pass all other requirements of the rental unit. If you are tired of not having any homes to apply at because you are a Section 8 tenant or feel it is unfair that Section 8 individuals and families are being judged based off their assistance and should be able to apply at any home they qualify for please sign this petition.
