Keep True Spirits Liquor Store Out of Our Community
On January 31, 2014 it came to the attention of our community that True Spirits Liquor Store had subleased the former Capital One Bank building at the corner of Parker and Midway Roads (3401 Midway Road, Plano, TX 75093) and had applied to the TABC for a permit to sell alcohol at that location. The petitioners are residents of the nearby neighborhoods and/or members of the overall community and are opposed to this. We feel that the inclusion of True Spirits Liquor Store is inconsistent with the family oriented nature of our community, sends the wrong message to our current and future residents and will create additional traffic and nuisance. We recognize that CVS does sell beer and wine in the same center, but it accounts for only a small percentage of their sales. Further, it is our opinion that a liquor store has no place in what is essentially a residential area, but would be better placed in a full retail environment. Additionally, we are very concerned with the subversive nature by which Greg True and Tom Welch (the owners of True Spirits Liquor) are attempting to set up business in our community. They have made no attempt to engage the community in conversation to share their intents and address any of our concerns. It makes us question whether they will be good stewards of our community.
The purpose of this petition is threefold:
1. To Sabre Realty Management: we respectfully request that you do not lease to True Spirits Liquors or approve a sublease to True Spirits Liquor or any other establishment selling alcohol at this location.
2. To Capital One Bank: we respectfully request that you do not sublease to True Spirits Liquors or any other establishment selling alcohol.
3. To the TABC: we respectfully request that you do not approve a permit to sell alcohol to True Spirits Liquors or any other establishment at this location.
