With the recent changes happening drastically to our society, highlighted boldly by the recent COVID-19 epidemic. These are trying and lonely times for people of all races and backgrounds in South Africa. With confinement to your home 24/7 and some with no access to internet or DSTV, their joy is found in having a drink at home to ease the pain of confinement.

The banning of alcohol whilst shops continue to sell non-essentials is a grey area in the law that has been gazetted quickly. This in law terms is called discrimination and unlawful. This pandemic should not be a way to push agendas as we've seen with Panyazi Lesufi praising the banning who is a public servant. Essential stores who have alcoholic stores inside their premises should be allowed to sell alcohol as it will not be a logistics problem. Our way of life has been disturbed but should not taken away.

The economy will suffer greatly already but we should be able to use common sense. Already the Sin tax of R15 billion we collect is already at stake.People in the Eastern Cape have taken to loot at an alcoholic store. All this can be avoided if we open the liquor stores and have a drink at home.
