Bring AMBER ALERT system to South Australia
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
The AMBER ALERT SYSTEM originated in the United States in 1996. AMBER is officially a backronym for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response, but was named after Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas, in 1996.
How does it work?
The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death. There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child. The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
This system is also used in conjunction with locating senior citizens, individuals with altzeimers disease, and people with mental illnesses and returning them to their loved ones.
South Australia is yet to have this system in place. It is active and current in QLD.
This could be my child that goes missing or someone you love. Please help me. Sign the petition so that i can put it forward to the right government officals and get the word out.
