The humanities department at Ryerson is treated as if its purpose is to offer lower and upper liberal courses for Science, Engineering and Business students rather than as departments in themselves. As a result, philosophy courses are scheduled with science, engineering, and business students in mind and not philosophy students. This makes it difficult for students of the humanities to schedule their courses for they often overlap, impeding on their ability to fulfill requirements and pursue interests.
