Discontinue Proctortrack Biometric Data Rutgers Math
Why this petition matters
Dear Undergraduate Math Department,
We thank you for your dedication to making virtual classes as effective as possible. As students, we value academic integrity and personal responsibility. After reviewing the Proctortrack Onboarding process, which is currently mandatory for math courses, we feel that the need for exam security has threatened our right to personal security. We are not comfortable with providing our biometric data to a private third party company and we ask that you please consider discontinuing the Proctortrack requirement in favor of more traditional and less invasive forms of exam security. A username and password to a secure testing site is a reasonable option, since if that data is compromised we can change the identifying information. However our facial structure and fingerprints are permanent, and if compromised there is nothing protecting our privacy and personal security. We feel that such a risk does not merit the use of Proctortrack for these exams. Thank you for your understanding; we would appreciate discussing with you other options for exam security and academic integrity in the near future.
Sincerely,
Sarah Terracina and Rutgers Math students
