RUTGERS SSW INTENSIVE WEEKEND PROGRAM/ CHOICE TO TAKE PROGRAM SYNCHRONOUS ONLINE

AS WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO IN-PERSON CLASSES, IS ANYONE ELSE GETTING UNCOMFORTABLE WITH CASES GOING UP ALL OVER THE WORLD?
Last week Rutgers extended the telecommuting policy till June 2022. Every department can make its determination on how to handle telecommuting.
IF THE ADMINISTRATION EXTENDED THE TELECOMMUTING POLICY, THEN WHY ARE WE BEING FORCED TO SIT IN CLASSROOMS, MASKED FOR 8 HOURS FOR AN ENTIRE WEEKEND?
ANYONE ELSE UPSET?
WE ARE SOCIAL WORKERS? LET'S ADVOCATE FOR OURSELVES!
The Intensive Weekend program, when developed, was a forward-thinking concept. It was disruptive—taking a master's program and allowing people to attend class a few times a month on the weekends. This format enabled professionals in the field to be able to participate in courses outside of traditional hours.
Over a decade later, we ask the Rutgers School of Social Work to be forward thinkers once again. One thing everyone has learned during this pandemic is what a resource Zoom has been. Zoom has allowed people to understand you can meet with people worldwide without travel, take classes, and interact with your classmates.
We are asking you to consider keeping an option for those who prefer to study from their homes to continue doing this. We realize some prefer to sit in a classroom and learn, but we would like the opportunity to ask who would like to take the program synchronously online format as we have been doing. Many of us have enjoyed the enhanced quality of life taking classes from home, saving time commuting each month.
Some of us are concerned about sitting in a classroom for 8 hours a day on a Saturday and Sunday.
We are asking the Administration to add this option for Spring 22.
