Russia’s foreign assets not just frozen but to be confiscated for Ukrainian reparations.
Hundreds of billions of dollars in Russian and Russian oligarch assets have been ‘frozen’ by America, Europe and other nations as part of the ‘sanctions’ levied against Russia, Putin and his oligarchs for instigating Russia’s unforgivable war of aggression against Ukraine. When peace in some form returns to Ukraine whether through regained independence or Russian occupation, the West may consider lifting some of the current sanctions. But such is the heinous nature of the current and on-going ‘war criminality’ that under no circumstances whatsoever should the 600 billion in Russian assets and the countless personal billions of Putin and his oligarchs be considered as ever being ‘returned’ to them. Those billions MUST be immediately deemed ‘forfeited’ for ‘war reparations’ and as ‘punitive damages’ to be held in a United Nations Trust for 1.) the rebuilding of Ukraine should it emerge in tact as a nation from the current war or 2.) as a fund for each and every Ukrainian citizen displaced by the current war and the potential Russian occupation of Ukraine in order to rebuild their lives either in Ukraine or to assist them in building a new home elsewhere.
Russia, Putin and his oligarchs must be immediately disabused of any lingering thought that the billions currently ‘frozen’ will in any way, shape or form be returned to Russia or to them at any future time. Those assets MUST be forever forfeited as a consequence of their bloody aggression and the transgressing of the fundamental rules of global peace! And so I urge the international organizations and the national leaders to which this petition is directed, to immediately make known the fact of this ‘permanent forfeiture’ of those assets as ‘reparation’ and ‘punitive damage’ for war crimes committed by all the egregious Russian transgressors of world peace - those currently raping Ukraine of its freedom.
