This University is named after a racist, a homophobic, and a sexist man. Brigham Young would not let African Americans hold what the church calls the priesthood. African Americans were not even able to enter the temple. They blame African Americans not being able to hold the priesthood on getting a “revelation from god that the people weren’t ready”. They finally were aloud the priesthood in 1978.

 Women in the church are still not aloud to hold the priesthood to this day. Again the excuse is still a revelation from god.

 Brigham young also practiced polygamy. He had a total of 55 wives. Their ages ranging from 15-69.
