I'm a parent of Knox County Schools students and was recently told that air purifiers are not permitted in my sons' classrooms due to KCS Board E-141 (https://www.knoxschools.org/cms/lib/TN01917079/Centricity/domain/974/board%20policies/E-141%20Energy%20and%20Utility%20Management.pdf). I have requested a change in this policy to allow air purifiers in all KCS classrooms, regardless of whether or not an individual medical need has been documented, as the Covid-19 pandemic is a medical need for all. This is not a mandate that requires them to be purchased, installed, or maintained, merely a request that the language of the E-141 policy be amended to make it clear that air purifiers may be used in KCS classrooms at this time.
