There are many activities at JF Gregory Park that commemorate and celebrate many things for all races, and all races of people should feel welcome. This statue is devisive and doesn't belong here anymore.

Does it not make more sense to erect a statue of a person who sought education and freedom for slaves versus a commanding officer fighting for the institution of forced labor? #The real heroes.

This used to be one of my favorite places to ride my bike...I knew this statue was here but, I never paid it any mind, nor did I commit to memory of just whom it represented. I will never understand what it is to be black nor can I ever begin to apologize for the atrocities and the systemic racism that continues to plague our country but, I am very human and very empathetic where some, including our terrible joke of a president are not. Thus, I can and will participate in anything and everything that attempts, however seemingly, inconsequential and insurmountable to make amends for those racist and bigots who have come before me and who unfortunately are still here. I don't care Mr. Mayor how 'hot, too heated’ it is to remove the Richmond Hill Robert E. Lee statue. It only serves as a reminder of how far yet we have to go. It needs to be removed NOW so this park can once again be a favorite place to come and enjoy...by EVERYONE!!

I sign this petition because the folks in the community have asked for the removal of moments that that offend their families, whether their ancestors were victims or they were progressors, it is clear that peace and harmony will be brought into the communities where their ancestors may have suffered on the past... Physical or emotional, It's just time to heal all wounds!
My parents were activists when Dr. King was alive, in the immortal, PEACEABLE Marching Can't of the 60's 利‍♂️利‍♂️利‍♀️... WE SHALL OVERCOME SOMEDAY  DEEP IN MY HEART ❣️ I DO BELIEVE THAT WE SHALL OVERCOME SOMEDAY 李❤️
