Rural Bus Service For Scramoge County Roscommon

Rural Bus Service For Scramoge County Roscommon

The Issue

The Bus Éireann Company Expressway Number 22 Bus Service Starts From Ballina Bus Station And Terminates in different bus stations in Dublin

it bypasses The The Village Of Scramoge Altogether

On the scheduled route to Dublin the Expressway number 22 starts from Ballina one of the scheduled bus stops on the route is  Strokestown. Then the next scheduled stop after that is the village of Tarmonbarry the 22 bus bypasses the village of Scramoge altogether depriving the village of transport

if the local people living in the village of Scramoge need to go to the doctors in Longford or Strokestown or go shopping for necessities and medicines if they do not have their own Vehicle or someone to drive them to where they need to go.they have to get a taxi into Strokestown or Longford

The average cost of a taxi from Scramoge to Longford is €40  the average cost of a taxi to Strokestown is around €10

Scramoge is only about 6 kilometres from Strokestown but it is a long journey to travel to Longford or Strokestown if you have no transport.

Recently there has been a  new tarmacked car park installed at the rear of St. Ann’s church in Scramoge village for the local church goers and also for the relatives who wish to visit loved ones buried in the adjoining cemetery. This space could be used as a regular bus stop for the number 22 bus or, Bus Éireann could put a bus stop at the side of St Ann’s church or in front of the church or in an area near

Scramoge is a busy area to have a bus stop in the village of Scramoge would be a great benefit  to the local people as there is no local bus service whatsoever covering this area at all
thank You
