Make morally muddled, media attention seeking murderers nameless

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

To deter vacuous and violent persons from seeking media attention and related social significance or visibility and "validation" through human slaughter.

I started this petition in 2012 but have been inspired to revive it by the decision of New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Adern not to name the mass murderer who attacked mosques in her country recently.

The petition is about journalists' opportunity, even responsibility, to address the abuse of our access to the public. Our duty to protect the public from this kind of brutal "brand building" and murderous "mass marketing"

I have made two suggestions: 1) name the perpetrator only once or 2) never name him/her, but use police/court records (in link form), in the case of written, internet based reports.

Help me petition the National Union of Journalists (UK) General Secretary and other decision makers to consider these and other "not naming" publishing strategies.
