Ensure players are released for a rugby league Test in Denver

This petition made change with 1,086 supporters!

We, the undersigned, call on all clubs in the Australasian National Rugby League to release players for the June 23 Test between England and New Zealand at the Sports Authority Stadium in Denver.

As sovereign governing bodies in a serious international sport, the Rugby Football League and New Zealand Rugby League have the right to play Test matches at the venue of their choosing in an international window during which there are no club games.

The only involvement of clubs in such a circumstance should be to honour their procedural and moral duties to the sport by not standing in the way of players in this regard. The players must be released as those of other clubs and states will be on the very same weekend.

We, the undersigned, will not stand for these players being subjected to threats and intimidation from their clubs or a domestic body with no jurisdiction over this event.

If our wishes are not met, we reserve the right to withdraw our moral and financial support from the National Rugby League, including but not limited to club membership, match attendance, merchandise sales, digital subscriptions and television viewing.
