Help Friend of the Earth lead rubber and palm oil companies to stop deforesting the second largest tropical forest in the world.

Thousands of square kilometres of the world’s second-largest rainforest, the Congo Basin, sit on the verge of destruction. Companies in Cameroon, Gabon, Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) hold licenses for industrial agriculture on another almost 9,000 square kilometres of land. A recent Earthsight study shows that government authorities granted several of these concessions with little regard for transparency, and in some cases in violation of laws written to protect forests, often to devastating effect for local communities.

Almost all the involved companies are multinationals with headquarters outside of Congo, trading internationally. Initiatives similar to the one carried out by Friend of the Earth have led other companies to stop expanding their activities and deforestation, proving the importance of campaigning and making our voices heard.

Friend of the Earth is in the process of selecting involved companies' names and contacts to whom to send your signatures. We will keep you informed and updated as we will receive feedbacks and as things develop.

Let's make our voices heard. Please sign the petition and express your opinion to make it even more effective!!
