Traffic on I-70 is becoming a serious safety hazard and detriment to the businesses that rely on skiers along the I-70 corridor in Colorado. Matters are only getting worse temporarily as the twin tunnels section of the road is under construction to temporarily re-route the interstate while the east-bound tunnel is widened. The state and municipal governments of the affected counties should work with RTD to encourage a solution where RTD would profit from skiers who are encouraged to take buses to their favorite resorts. This would greatly reduce the number of cars on the road and make travel easier for everyone, benefiting businesses in summit county as well as reducing air pollution and road-wear along the I-70 corridor.
