This is the position I’m in, and I’m extremely angry about it, especially after the promises to abolish the 15 year rule.

I feel that I have no voice in the country of my birth. I first felt this way in rhe 1975 referendum on the EU.

A dereliction of democracy that British nationals living and working abroad do not have an automatic right to vote in elections and referenda!

All British citizens have the right to a say and a vote on constitutional matters. Many were denied that right in the EU referendum and subsequently. Additionally, there is the anomaly of citizens of former Empire and now Commonwealth countries having entitlement in Overseas Territories and other lands, but UK citizens living barely 200 miles east or south of London are denied any right to vote. As if living in Brussels or Paris means they have severed all links with their homeland; it is a preposterous situation and must be put right.

I believe all British Citizens should have the right to vote in UK elections. I have neighbours here who have lost that basic right and it isn't fair.

Why shouldn’t we be able to vote, we may not live in the UK but it’s still our first country for most of us .
