Dean Aye started this petition to Rt. Hon Roosevelt Skerrit (PM of Commonwealth of Dominica) and

As a Dominican living in the United Kingdom, I would like to know exactly what the government plans are to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus into Dominica that came from China and now being spread throughout the globe.

As we are all aware, the healthcare service for Dominica is not designed or is capable of tackling this situation. I have first-hand experience of its major inadequacies. There is NO argument about that FACT. The people of Dominica are not informed enough to understand what they can do to prevent the virus spread. We have seen little evidence of public health information. The elderly in Dominica are not strong enough to survive the virus, should the government fail in its duty to prevent the virus from entering Dominica. The majority of my family live in Dominica and neighbouring islands.

Airport screening is largely INEFFECTIVE from preventing a virus from entering a country, particularly as passengers may not yet be showing any symptoms (see https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/why-airport-screening-wont-stop-spread-coronavirus As there is a growing population of Chinese in Dominica, the threat is REAL for not just the current outbreak, but FUTURE viral outbreaks from entering Dominica and neighbouring islands.

What investment is the Dominican government, under Rt. Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit and ESPECIALLY the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Commonwealth of Dominica under Ambassador Lu Kun TO DATE, CURRENTLY, and FUTURE doing to prevent Dominica being another victim of the Chinese-borne virus?  What are they doing with the WHO and PAHO organisations?

Do not forget, the virus is now a pandemic and as such, it is not just the Chinese spreading it. Italy, Iran, the UK, the US are now included. We completely understand that there is a wish to attract foreign investment into Dominica, particularly via tourism, as is seen by the new hotels in Portsmouth for example, however, the virus spreads due to international travel.

What have the Dominican government and PRC Embassy done, are they doing and will continue to do to protect Dominica from foreign-brought pathogens?
