The NHS is failing to provide enough beds to enable adequate treatment of patients due to a combination of an increased elderly population and government under funding. Health professionals are repeatedly warning the government about the inadequate provision but no support or provision appeared in the chancellors autumn statement. Now people are dying as a direct consequence of government inaction in providing adequate financial resources. www.theguardian.com/society/2017/jan/06/three-deaths-worcestershire-royal-hospital-nhs-winter-crisishttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4094076/Hospital-meltdown-two-patients-dead-crowded-corridors-one-waited-35-HOURS-bed.html
The government now needs give the NHS the financial support it needs to provide adequate hospital beds with the necessary staffing plus increased funds for social care to alleviate bed blocking. It needs to finance this in the longer term by increasing funds through a dedicated ring fenced tax which a majority of the population support.
Please support this petition to save the NHS this winter and the lives of the people it serves. So that it is there for all when they need it with the level of care they deserve.
Please get the Chancellor to provide new funds now by signing this petition.
