I'm English born and bred although now currently reside in Canada. This was my first Sporting memory. Must have been what led me to become a lifelong Hammers fan. I.m watching the Liverpool West Ham game on TV as I write this. SAd to say England will never again win the World Cup. The money in the Premier League allows clubs to buy the best talent from around the world which means only the very cream of English talent get a look in. More and more teams have few or no English players taking the field for games. So yes the whole squad deserve to be knighted for their singular achievement. Do it now while some of the squad are still with us. Thank you.

These guys are footballing heroes, role models for subsequent generations. They truly deserve to be honoured, and please remember Jimmy Greaves, our greatest ever goal scorer.

It's a national disgrace that our greatest ever football triumph which may never be repeated hasn't seen all of its heroe players knighted. Knighthoods are handed out like confetti nowadays to far less deserving cases. Bobby Moore especially who shook hands with her majesty on that summers day in 1966 before lifting the golden trophy. Why why why has he not been knighted??? It's a funny old world!!
