Mike Brettle started this petition to Rt Hon Alok Sharma, Secretary of State for BEIS and Minister for COP26

Solar Power needs support.

Britain needs to reduce CO2 emissions and has a target to have zero emissions by 2050. It is the future of our children at stake.

This will need a huge development of renewable energy. This means new solar parks generating renewable energy. The Cleve Hill solar park is a great example.

The proposed Cleve Hill Solar park is being considered by the secretary of state but needs a show of support. The decision date is the end of May. He has the power to decide if this goes ahead and makes a real difference.

The Cleve Hill solar Park will: -

Operate without subsidy, taking on fossil fuels by generating electricity more cheaply.

Have a back up storage battery to overcome the main problem with renewables - intermittency.

Be built at zero cost to the taxpayer

It will be a cost free economic boost to the local area and the nation just as we come out of economic lockdown.

It is important that government know that there is support for real renewable energy projects so I urge you to support this project by supporting this petition. This is a chance to stand up and be counted at a critical time

This is a POSITIVE petition, it is not against anything, nor is it vague. It supports practical action at zero cost.
